The Fight for Peace works to break down social barries, overcome violence and promote the potential of children and young people through boxing and martial arts sports combined with education programs, staff development and supports services.
The Association was born in 2000 from the idea of the former boxer Luke Dowdney to work in Complexo da Maré, an area with high rates of mortality by firearms sociecomic vulnerability and domain territory by armed groups linked to drug trafficking.
Promoting human develgment of children and youth residents of Complexda Mare through sports as a tool for education, qualification for work and social inclusion by offering boxing classes, capoeira wrestling, judo and taekwondo with citizenship classes, personal development and preparation for the labor market.
